PAGETWO THE FORT GEORGE HERALD inn, FOR! GEORGE HERALD PUBLISHED BY THE NORTHERN INTERIOR PRINTIH6CO. J. B. DANIELL. PRESIDENT Devoted to the interests of Fort ""George and the entire N'urtb-ern Interior.^ J. B. DAN1ELL. Editor. , Saturday, December, 16 1911 IN another column appears . a plea for the serious consideration of our citizens, to incorporate a municipality of South Port Ciuorjro. Such a ij^roxsecluru would make but a slight, ditteresnee in the levying of t;i.vat-ic»n, which- would be nore than cfMnponsated by the benefits accruing^k^th'e city as the direct result ofiRQul control. We have already been approached by a strong concern that wishes to install an electric lighting system here, providing a franchise could be si1: cured. Unincorporated we can not advance inducements to suoJY1 concerns, although ample justification is conceded by the Conditions involved here today in equipping our'-city; as a community with such bright prospects as "South Fort George should be equipped. Such matters of moment have i drifted along hero since the inception of this townsite enterprise without much comment or,, active agitation, .as. the time could not have been deemed propitious for the contemplated action subsequent to the final settlement of affairs of such moment as the Indian Reserve j .»stion, upon- which largely clepenued^the future prosperity of this comiiTtKiity. No matter how^-ambitious. a community may be toma|ntain " trade supremacy, or progressive conditions of any description, without municidal organization the active work necessary to further such undertakings will inevitably wane when the duties of public spirited citizenship be-come irksome to the people, and devolve upon a few individuals. So today we have here a moribund Board of Trade, which started out to do great deeds, and undoubtedly helped very materially in its first burst of enthusiasm to supply'accur-ate information tq^people out-side the districi.regarding local conditions, [pr With municipal organization, governed by men elected to preside over "the civic affairs and .- protect the interests of the citizens, the ."responsibility for the town's progress is shifted upon tlie shoulders of a coterie of fit men to accept such office, whose actions are calculated to further prosperity.
