They left with a one-horse sleigh, carrying grub, blankets, and maiJ, and expected to reach Quesnel on Saturday in time to connect with the Ashcrof t stage, which leaves Quesnel r n Sunday morning. Mr. Clarke has an option on A. G. Hamilton's 60 acres of land known as "South Fort George". On arriving at Vancouver he will send a surveyor back to plat the 60 acres as a townsite.and it is more than likely lots will be on. sale in March. It is the only place the town, can be until the Indian reserve and the Hudson's Bay Company land, are sub-divided into lots, which is not likely to be done inside of two years. The Fort George Lumber & Navigation Company owns and operates the steamboat Nechaco, which has paid expenses this summer. She will be run next summer in connection with a larger boat, which the company will build this winter at Soda Creek. The company's sawmiH.at Fort George hps been in operation a month, and lumber is piled in the yard. The company expects to have 50 men on its pay-rroll in the spring.
