GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS Hidsw's Bar-Pacific line Starts Big Eu-Vtaeefiaf Werk—Will Cost Forty NUEms Edmonton, Sept 21.—Engineers and. surveyors in the employ of the Alberta, Peace River and Eastern Railway corn pany, which purposes building a new transcontinental line from Hudson's Bay to the Pacific coast, by way of Edmonton, have started on ponies on a trip of more than 2,000 miles into the north country to survey the route. They will meet the McDougall party at Lesser Slave late and tramp 700 miles, finishing the trip on dog trains and return in twelve months. The parry, which is in charge of M, x Edwards, an experienced engineer and | pathfinder, will first go over the north -eastern portion of the route, thence con ? txnuing the survey westward along the 'proposed route from Port McMurray to tidewater on the Pacific coast J; H. M. King, head of the London and Dominion Trust Company and presiden of the railroad company, who is in England completing the financial arrange ments for the system, which will cosi more than $40,000,000, is expected in Ed monton in a short time, when other im portant announcements will be made in connection with the undertaking. The Northern Territorial Railway con pany, which also holds a charter from the Dominion government to build and operate a line through practically the same territory, is arranging to send several surveying parties into the field. H. G. H Neville, chief engineer, who has head quarters in Edmonton, says he is now awaiting instructions from officials in London. Mr. Neville has walked over the entire route.
