The tubers are of excellent quality but there is a poor market offering. In wholesale lots they are bringing from 50 to 60 cents per 100 pounds, fob at Prince George, but in .the Fraser Valley they are selling as low as 45 cents. The Lutheran church will celebrate its annual harvest festival this coming Sunday. Gifts of vegetables and canned goods would be greatly appreciated, and put to charitable use. Willis, superintendent of education, which establishes clearly the attitude of the education department in the matter of providing full-time instrution for the pupils in the two lower grades. Mr. Wimbles sent a telegram to Hon. Joshua Hinchliffe asking that the local school board be required to furnish full instruction, and in reply received the letter from Superintendent Willis. The latter forwarded a copy of his telegram to the school board on the matter, and followed this up with the statement: "The school board will be expected to carry out the suggestion made in my telegram, and take steps to provide more accommodation v/ithout unnecessary delay." This can mean but one thing, the renting of the necessary accommodation. II. S. French, district agriculturist, has hooked a water diviner in the person of H. M. Matthews, of Smith-ers, and he is credited with having made a number of "finds" in the Pineview district, along Tabor Creek, and in the Salmon River district. Mr. Matthews has been utilizing the willow twig in the search for water veins for many years, and has great confidence in it. In the tests made during the past week he prospected in the vicinity of a number of dry-wells, but got no indications within twenty feet of the point where the well had been dug. Dr. Hugh L. Dickey has arrived, in town, on his semi-annual professiona tour, and will be at the Prince Georgi hotel until October 9th. W. L. Armstrong, local agent of the C. N. R., received word on Saturda; that his brother Leonard would pass through on Saturday evening's train on his honeymoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ann-strong met the newlyweds and accom-p&nred them as far as Topley. Leonard Armstrong is assistant manager for The Crane Company, at Dallas, Texas, and the news that he was on his honeymoon on Saturdays' train was the first intimation his brother had that he had been married. On Sunday the C. N. -R. will revert to its winter train service. The westbound trains will arrive at 7.30 in the evening on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, departing at 8 o'clock. The eastbound train will arrive on Sunday Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8 o'clock and depart at 8.30. Miss Jeanne Corning has returned from a months stay in Vancouver where she received a course of instruction in dancing from Boris Novikoff, one time member of the imperial Russian ballet. Mr. Taft has just returned from Seattle where he tok a special course in tap and musical comedy dancing at the Douglas School of the Dance. Connal wiH take as his topic "The Revolution at work," a further study of revolutionary methods in Russia. The Ladies' Liberal Association of Pririce George will hold a meeting in the former Elks Hall over the Strand Cafe tomorrow evening, September 25th at 8 o'clock. The annual tax sale of the city will be held on Wednesday of next week, a* the city hall, commencing at 10 o'clock in the forenoon. The federal government has decided to change the joint observance of Thanksgiving and Armistice Day. Monday, October 12th has been proclaimed as Thanksgiving Day, and will be observed as a dominion holiday.
