Judges Admire Victory Gardens
On Monday' an inspection was made of the Prince George public school children's Victory Gardens.
Inspectors were.H. Brathen, head gardener at the Experimental Station, and J-. E. Manning, district Agriculturist, who report that they made a total of 46 visits during the day. Eleven children had dropped out of the competition, le'aving 35 still in the competition.
On the whole, the inspectors were well pleased with the condition of the gardens, which in almost every case reflected the care the children had given. Some gardens were in excellent condition both as regards to growth and freedom from weeds. Where they were found not up to the mark, advice- was given, which is taken will.Jesuit in much improvement.    -^
The inspections were'made under the following headings: cultivation, general arrangement, quality of the vegetables, general appearance of the garden, book of records. '-'¦The inspectors feel that the keeping of records is an important part of the competition, and have asked all those who have not yet started a book of records, to do so in readiness for the second nnd last inspection, which will be made between the second and third weeks of August. Up to 25 points will be allowed for carefully kept records, so that the very best garden without a record is seriously handicapped.

B.C. Land Policy Fully Covered In Perry Report
Receipt has been acknowledged by Victoria of a Prince George Board of Trade resolution asking that an immediate start be made on a detailed land settlement program.
It is being pointed out that all matters of the resolution regarding the new land settlement policy we1re' reported upon in the Provincial Post-war Rehabilitation Council's report. The policy is fully covered on pages 59 to 70 of the interim report and that report isjnow receiving the close consideration of the Provincial Government.
Board of Trade Pays Tribute to Elmer F. Little
Members of Prince George Board of Trade turned out in force Friday night at the Shasta Oafe to bid farewell i to E. F. Little, secretary of the organization.
On behalf of the members,. President Martin S. Caine presented Mr. Little with a pen and pencil set and a leather writing case.
Joining with Mr. Caine in congratulating Mr. Little on his appointment to the position of government agent at Vernon were P. E Wilson, K.C.; George Milburn and Mayor A. M. Patterson.
Mr. Caine said his work as president had been made easy through the efficiency of Mr. Little as secretary.-—-^
EXPRESSES CONFIDLNCE
Mr. Wilson said .all Mr. Little's friends must rejoice in his getting ahead. There should be no feeling i of regrets in his going away<to a better position. The speaker expressed  confidence   in Mr.   Little's \
1 ability to fill the position and urged him to continue to climb higher in the provincial service.
Mr. Mllburn spoke jjl the efficiency of Mr. Little here as government collector for the last 14 years. In going to Vomon the local government office and the .entire district was losing a splendid man, he said, adding that Mr. little was a tower of strength in every Victory Loan.

Mayor Patterson congratulated Mr. Little on behalf of the citizens
of Prince. George. He said he had always fourwWVlr:'little sound, generous and a willing worker in the city's interest. He..will be missed in many activities, but most of all in the work of the Victory Loons.
Mrs. Little, also, would be missed in the ladies' activities.. Mayor Patterson asked Mr. Little to express to his wife regretj that she too, was leaving the district.;
Mr. Little in responding said he deemed it a privilege to have lived and associated with such people as those In Prince George. Looking back his 14- years here had been short and extremely pleasant. He had hoped to retire here, but such was not to be his lot.

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Holzworth of Quesnel spent the weekend with Mrs. Hol^-orth's parents, Mr .and Mrs. George Dyer.
William West Sr. has been in the Prince George hospital the past two weeks, recovering from a( severe attack of influenza.
Lloyd Johnson and a friend from The Pas, Manitoba, visited Red-Rock last Thursday.
Lyle Ricket, who has been employed at Pinchi Lake, has returned to his home for a few days.
Mrs. G. Thorn, Mrs. A. Holzworth and Mrs. Robert Forsythe were the guests of Mrs. George Dyer and Mrs. D. Ricket Tuesday.
Irwin Doherty has returned home from Pinchi Lake.
T. Dessilier has moviid to Fort St. James.
Jack Holzworth motored to Fort St. James recently.

MISS A. RUBY WILLIAMS PREPARING TO SERVE IN ARABIA AS MISSIONARY
Miss A. Ruby Williams, B.A., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Williams of Prince George, recently left Victoria, where she was pastor's assistant for the past year, for Washington, D.C. There she will study the Arabian language at a theological college in preparation for going as a missionary to Arabia.
Before leaving Victoria, Miss Williams was visited byjier sister, Miss Myrtle Williams of Seattle7ErFn)ute7 she paid brief visits to Mrs. Walter Sherman formerly of Prince George, at Hope; to her brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Williams, at Penticton; to her twin sister. Miss Pearl Williams at Kamloops, and to her sisters, Mrs. F. L. Stevens at Terrace, Mrs. W. Mclntosh at Van-derhoof. , and Mrs. A. Evang at Finmoore. She also spent one day visiting friends in Prince George.
Miss Williams is well known here, naving come to the city as an infant and having received her public and  high  school  education  in  the
city.
She visited Prince George for only one day whilejOn way to Washington and thus/was unable to see a number of friends here. The date for her crossing of the international border was set before she left Victoria, limiting her travelling time.
