Wrestlers To Mix On Three Nights
Final plans for a thw?e-day wrestling card when Larry "The Mauler" McKinnon will carry Prince George colors against Hector Trudeau from Vancouver and Montreal, were released by the Junior Chamber of Commerce this week.
On June 30 heavyweights Me-Kinnon and Trudeau will try for best two out of three falls in eight 10 minute rounds. This will be followed by a light heavy duel between Bud Ratell. also of Montreal, and Ole Olausen of Prince George. ¦
The following day will see the two winners of the previous night's engagement tangle for top tournament honors.
On the third and final night an "Inter-city" match features both Prince Georgites against tho Frenchmen in a tag team event. TAG TEAM
The tag team bout, one of the most popular in southern battling circles, sees all four wrestlers mix it-up ift turns. While one man from each team tangles in the ring, the other man hangs onto a two foot length of rope in his team's corner. When the active team member becomes weary he can be replaced by his mate if the mate can reach out and tag him without letting go of the rope. The rules call for the same two out of three falls as in the single events but there arc no rounds and a two hour time limit is set.
A boxing card for the three-day event will be released later the Junior Chamber of Commerce reports.

For Umpires a White Cane -- For Players a Rule Book
By "BONEHEAD"
City and district baseball teams will perform this summer under the banner of Central Interior Baseball League. At the same time the executive will be replaced by a commission, a "Citizen" sports scribe recently recorded in these columns.
Whether they function as an executive, board, committee or commission, the new baseball "brass" will likely be referred to as "bums'1 and "robbers" before the final put-out has been made this season. This is to be regretted, as even a left-handed pitcher with, stomach ulcers knows we can't have a baseball league without a governing body of some kind.
But these boys have stuck their respective nocks out—and 1 want to be the first to start sniping at them. Besides, some of the commissioners probably lack experience in tho art of guiding the destinies of a baseball league and will appreciate a little timely advice (gratis, of course). A WHITE CANE
First thing they must do i^'fire nil those blind umpires who officiated last summer. Give them a white cane, a tin cup full of pencils and turn them loose. In their places, let the commissioners bring in a few of those individuals who climb the fence and doze in the long grass in deep right field. Boy, can they call 'em' When "Home Run" Harrigan beats that throw to the plate by a bat-length, these "radar referees" rise in unison and scream "OUT A MILE!" They're wasting their time out there. They should be brought in behind the plate where their uncanny judgement would be appr-ciated by the fans—maybe. TAKE A POLL
Another suggestion — appoint every fan an assistant umpire. On close plays a poll could be taken to obtain a decision. This would slow up the game somewhat, but think what a solace it! would be to the inferiority (?) complex of the "grandstand guessers."
Another smart move on the part of the commissioners would be to i have the City Council designate all streets bordering the ball park as no-parking areas. This would l)e hard on a few red-hot fans who have saved their two-bit pieces in order to stand on the decks of a $4000 truck, and berate players and umpires from a distance. term in its loosest sense) could be enticed through the turnstiles, it is even possible our baseball barons would be enabled to provide enough balls to eliminate delays while a score of dime-hungry urchins hunted for foul balls around the C.N.R. tracks.
Every ball player who can read should be provide!! with a rule book at league expense. This might prevent lengthy arguments and enable fans to get home before their Sunday dinner was thrown out for the family hound.
Games should start at the advertised time. They do in New York. Players should remember their place in the batting order and be ready to go to the plate. We know baseball uniforms resemble pyjamas—but that's no excuse for going to sleep in the dugouts. Remember—the only ones entitled to snooze are the umpires and scorekeepers . . . and. of course, sports reporters.
City Wrestler Is Former Commando
Ole Clausen, light heavyweight wrestler who will tangle . with Montrealer Bud Ratell bore on July l. will use all the strategy of a Commando to succumb his ring foe and push Prince George | to the inter-oily victory.
Ole served in the Commandos (luring World War II and was a crack amateur for seven years before turning professional and touring eastern Canada and the United States.
Born in Norway, and a former lumberjack, Ole has been train ing for the past six months fo the July bout and is said by wre-tler-trainer Larry "The Mauler McKinnon to be in tip-top physi cal shape.
Soccer On Upswing Perry Cup Found
The long lost H. G. Perry Soccer Football Trophy was unearthed this week by soccer promoter Jack Cusack who now has plans under way for resumption of "Footer" in Prince George and district.
The cup, .lack says, was donated by Mr. Perry in 1921 and was hist played fop- in 1940 when a victorious Prince George 11 took it from McBride. Jack alleges that there was some bitterness about this and that there was some trouble in actually getting hold of the cup after it was won.
First soccer practice will be held in the field next to Athletic Park tonight at 7 p.m., he stated. Plans for a soccer field are also under way. Jack added, and it is expected that one will be secured soon where posts can be put up and lines laid down.
"CENTRE" GETS $500
Prince George curlers presented $500 to the Civic Centre Association on Monday when members of the Curling Club executive voted to add this amount to the $3000 already handed over.
Curlers have pledged $5000 as their share of the centre project, or 25 per cent of construction costs, whichever is the larger.
