P. MacLean, past president of the Okanagan-Cariboo Trail Association told directors of the organization meeting in Penticton last week-end. The association works to promote better travel conditions along route "97" from Weed, California, to Prince George and Daw-son Creek in the north. Highway 97 is continuous between those ponits. After reviewing projected highway improvements in the vicinity of OUver\penticton, Summerland, Vernon, Salmon Arm and Kami loops, Mr. Maclean said there would be considerable work done on the Cariboo road^ north of Cache Creek. Between Old Mile 134 and 150 construction will be completed soon and paved this summer. Thi^ distance is 13.18 miles and there will then be a continuous stretch of first class highway from Cache Creek north for 118.64 miles. From 150 Mile House to. Inaddition 3.08 miles of recapping will be done at Quesnel and 12 miles which were pulvimixed last year. Fort George district, reconstruction will be done by day labor on a $..8 mile stretch.. Timberlands VANCOUVER (CP) — An additional 13 pairs of trained eyes have joined the 127 already peeled on British Columbia's 124,-000,000 acres of forests. The new eyes belong to men who recently completed a forest service course in map and Instrument reading and radio and telephone communications.,—They lave been assigned to the vast Vancouver fire district, where 15 other lookouts have been watching for the first signs of forest fires. The art of spotting the first tell tale wisps of smoke, says James A.
