Council turned down the'-request on the advice of the city's zoning committee on the grounds that the addition would adversely affect adjacent homes on the street. Even though the area is zoned for light industrial, the property is established as residential. Meil until recently maintained a shop at 356 Quebec Street but was forced to vacate when the owner of the building decided to tear the premises down. Instead of building onto the front of h.is home, it was suggested that he conduct his business from a garage situated on the rear of his property. Drowning Victim Buried At Hanson A simple but impressive funeral service was held at Manson Creek last Friday, July 13, when the remains of Slgera Christoph-erson were laid to rest alongside many colorful old-timers of the Manson-Germansen area. Service was read by Coroner Dan Fraser of Fort St. James and witnessed by Corp Bob Turnbull of the R.C.M.P., and Dr. Godel of Van-derhoof, in addition to residents of the area and a Department of Highways work < crew. Chrlstopherson was^drowned In Germansen Lake about 2 p.m. on Wednesday when the TD18 cat he was operating backed off a shelf on the lake shore and dropped into 20 feet of water. He was between 60 and 70 years of age, and was employed by Mrs. Tate. When informed of the tragedy the R.C.M.P., Dr. Godel 'and Mr. Fraser left for Germansen Lake where they learned details of the drowning. According to information the deceased was bulldozing a bank on \he lake by backing cat into shallow water and bulldozing forward. Care, before being sentenced was committed to a coast institution for 30 days where he had undergone mental observation. The young man assaulted a our-year-old' girl on the old Summit Lake Road early in June. The young girl was playing alone outside her home on • the oad when a car became stuck n the mud.
