Canada offers coun less miles of undeveloped shore line on which you can pitc your tent. Even more romantic and also private, is to choose wooded island on one of th lovely lakes in your boating area. A good campsite has gooc drainage, a ready wood supply and should be safe. Don't pitc your tent under that lonesome pine, for it could act as a dandj lightning conductor. Keep the prevailing wind di rectlon in mind when you pitel your tent, with the entrario placed so that you can build ; fire at the entrance without th smoke blowing inside. Befor you build a fire, clear tb ground very carefully, remov ing sticks, grass, leaves anc pine needles that might spreac a campflre out of control. Don' build a fire on spongy, humus ground, for it can smoulder foi days beneath the surface. Fine an earth floor, if you can, ther build a rock or green wood fire place and cover it with sand. September 1, liJJi). unless you're trying to prove that you haven't forgotten your boy scout training. And tbe best way to put a fire out when you are finished is to pour water on it—then pour more water on it! Always leave a campsite neat and clean. Flatten tin cans before you bury them. You can get a lot more in a small hole that way. Another good tip is to throw them into the fire to burn off the tin plating before you bury them. With this protective coating removed, a can rusts quickly and corrodes away to dust. Unless you plan to sleep aboard your boat, the most essential item on a camping cruise is a tent. There are many typos of tents, ranging from the tiny pup tent to large, wall-type varieties. A large tent is well worth the investment. Aim for about 100 square feet of floor space, a tent that can be erected in less than 10 minutes, and one with a sewn-in floor for protection against insects and damp ground. Plastic screens on the entrance and windows are also important, especially during the mosquito season. Add to this a good air mattress, the heavy rubberized fabric type, and a light-weight sleeping bag, and you're all set to sleep In comfort on that lonely, lovely lake shore. LIQUID CEMENT It's astonishing how many uses a simple tube of liquid cement can have on a boating, fishing or camping trip. Being fast-drying and waterproof, it's just the thing for plugging a boat, leak, patching canvas or repairing a loose rod ferrule. It's also handy when you're Llilding your camp fire. Being flammable, it makes a dandy 'ire starter. Use Citizen Classifieds Phone LO 4 - 2441 Salesman Required By Leading Equipment Company Good starting salary, car supp I i ed.
