Interior converged on McBridc early Saturday to attend session of the annual district conference They came from Lac La Hache Williams Lake Vandcr- hoof and Prince George ac accompanied ¬ companied by the Prince Elk cttcs drill team Delegates were met at the 4 am train by local OOUt ladies and Elks who served hot coffee before taking them to their rooms for a short rest Registration started at 10 am and at noon the two lodges commenced business sessions which lasted until almost din ner time at 7 pm A total of 40 Elks and 55 members of the OORP plus guests enjoyed a dinner in the Senior Secondary School auditorium prepared by the ladies of All Saints Guild Toastmastcr was Don Amies of McBridc Lodge and Rev J D Cruickshank gave the invo cation Exalted Ruler Tom McDon aid of McBridc Lodge 247 ex tended the official welcome to the visitors Honoured Royal Lady Mrs Alice Patrick gae an address of welcome on be half of the McBridc Lodge of the OORP commenting that it is just over 15 years since the McBridc lodge was instituted They were highly honored she said with the presence of Sup Supreme ¬ reme Life Member Lady Eliza Elizabeth ¬ beth Deanc of Vancouver who instituted the lodge Earlier Orville Christcnson and Honour Mrs Dcane presented 15 year red Royal Lady Mrs Mary pins to the following charter members Mrs Helena Lons Lonsdale ¬ dale Mrs Alexina Renshaw Mrs Jenny Leake Mrs Maude Dutton Mrs Thclma Anderson and Mrs Lillian Waller Mrs Patrick welcomed the young girls of the Prince George Elkettcs Drill Team and thanked the isiting lodges for their contributions er rate than the motor vehicle increase reports the provincial motor vehicle branch in Vic Victoria ¬ toria Reporting on the first two months of the year the branch said a total of 4400 accidents accidents QUESNEL Staff Charges arc pending as a result of two accidents over the weekend Damage amounted to 800 Friday night when a car driven by Paul Goefroy of Quesnel col collided ¬ lided with the wel welfare ¬ fare Other local physicians may be asked to participate Mrs Campbell said executive members of the BC division of the Canadian Mental Health Association will attend the groups organizational meeting May 8 At that time they will present a charter to the Ques Quesnel ¬ nel group and outline the poli policies ¬ cies of the CM HA The Quesnel group has a two fold purpose according to Mr Thomas The first objective is to work with similar mental health groups in other centres for a professionally staffed mental health clinic for the Northern Interior Such a clinic would be staffed by a psychiatrist psychologist and psychiatric social workers The clinic will be similar to ex existing ¬ isting clinics in Nanaimo and Kelowna It will handle the diagnosis and treatment of mental health cases and then provide follow up work The groups second objective is to inform and educate the public about mental health Education programs will be directed towards service clubs parent teacher associations and similar groups The provincial governments travelling clinic was in Ques Quesnel ¬ nel Wednesday and Thursday to treat persons in need of guidance The clinic included Dr H A Halgeson a psychiatrist Miss Joy Bryneton a psychiatric social worker and Miss Sylvia Rtddell a psychologist The three professionals along with teachers social workers the probation officer and Ques Quesnel ¬ nel physicians interviewed a number of children here dur during ¬ ing the two days Dr Bailey of the Cariboo Health Unit said there arc two government clinics each year but these arc not enough to serve the area At least six such clinics arc needed the MHO contended The establishment of a reg regional ¬ ional clinic would alleviate the necessity of maintaining a tra travelling ¬
