VVVVV VVVVVyfl TkbTouck Rm Well now finally Im back on schedule its Monday night which has been my night for writing this column for almost three years now The next couple of weeks are going to be occupied with trying to catch up with news from local clubs etc And in an attempt to be fair Ill cover the various organizations in the order in which I receive information concerning their activities By rights I should first cover the Timberline Trailriders of Pineview as Earl Shiels called me the clay after I was home but as I explained last week I didnt attend their annual awards banquet So as yet I do not have that infor information ¬ mation to report on and as I do have quite a build up of other material which has been submitted Ill do that this week Chronologically it also makes more sense to handle the Interior Pony Racing Association and the CNEC first as it was back in October that their respective awards ban banquets ¬ quets were held The Interior Pony Racing Association had a very busy and successful season which saw more teams and more chuckwagons competing on the circuit in a wider variety of events The awards banquet was held at Vanderhoof in October Top position in chariots for the season was shared by Rae Roe of Prince George and Mel Allan of Quesnel Gary Siemans of Vanderhoof netted second with third and fourth spots going to two more Prince George drivers Leo Roe and Vic Doll respectively In both chuckwagons and Ladies Powder Puff Prince George drivers made a clean sweep of it First in chuck chuckwagons ¬ wagons was Blair Hardy followed by Keith McLaughlin and Pete Steinback in that order First in the ladies event went to Nori Doll second spot to Janice Hardy and third to Rose Nichols In sulkies Brent Griffiths of Prince George claimed top position while Shawn Richards of Quesnel tabbed second and Kyle Doll of Prince George picked up the third placing The best sportsman award is made as the result of a vote taken among the members The outcome of this vote was a tie between Gordon Nichols of Prince George and Oscar Wallstrom of Vanderhoof The annual general meeting of the Interior Pony Racing Association was conducted on November 10 in Prince George The executive for the 1975 season which were elected at that time are as follows president John Siemans Vanderhoof vice president Vic Doll Prince George secretary treasurer Bev Edmunds Quesnel Directors Keith McLaughlin Prince George Pete Stein back Prince George Oscar Walstrom Vanderhoof Stan Edwards Quesnel and Mel Allan Quesnel A change made in the rulings since last year when I reported on the pony racing association should be of inter interest ¬ est to non participants who have refrained from competing due to the heights of their ponies There are now three divisions for ponies of various sizes 50 inches and under 48 inches and under and 46 inches and under For those wishing to become involved with the associa association ¬ tion or seeking further information contact either Keith McLaughlin at 962 7612 or Pete Steinback at 963 7704 And I wish to thank Pete Steinback who phoned in the above information It helps in making this column more of a service to the community if representatives from the various equine clubs and organizations would contact me regarding news of the activities of their respective groups Another organization which is regional in scope as opposed to purely local is the CNEC The Cariboo and Northern Equestrian Council comprised of member shows and individual horsemen from Hundred Mile to the south north to Prince George and west to Smithers Two years ago the executive was centred in Prince George for the first time Last year it went to Williams Lake but it has been returned to Prince George this year under the pres presidency ¬ idency of Mr Ben Sawchuk Anyone with enquiries about the council are invited to contact Mrs Joan Meiers at 964 6202 or Mrs Marguerite Kelly at 964 7417 The awards banquet for the council was held on October 12 at Quesnel Prince George Riders did very well placing first in 21 divisions second in 23 and reserve in 14 divisions For this week I have space only to cover the halter awards so shall continue next week with the performance awards All of the Hi point stallion awards went to Prince George horses Sequoia Storm Cloud Appaloosa owned by Triple R Appaloosas El Ari Aba Anglo Arabian owned by Barry Rafuse and Jaguar Nero Zero QH of Lyell Rodger placed in that order Hi Point mare also went to a Prince Geroge entry -
