Stylers once but the champs werent about to let it happen twice in a row The Stylers met the Sabres Thursday in a re match of the May 6 opening league which the Sabres won 12 11 For a while Thursday it looked like the same thing was going to happen as the juniors led 4 3 after the first period and 8 7 after the second But the Stylers proved why they are defending Canadian Senior B champions and won 15 9 The Old Stylers were led by the brilliant play of Al Watt who netted four goals and counted six assists Watt also Old Styltrs Canada Hotel Junior Sabres counted the winning goal Greg Bennet also had an excellent game for the Stylers with he and Watt combining to dominate the big third period for the Old Stylers Bennett counted one goal The Old Stylers outscored the Sabres 8 1 in the final period Referee Harvey Clark went on a penalty binge with six minutes left in the third period He originally called Bennett on a questionable two minute minor penalty Al Murray argued the point and Clark handed him a 10 minute misconduct Murray made another remark and Clark threw him out With this the Old Styler bench was up in arms So Clark handed them a two minute bench minor All of a sudden the Sabres seemed to have the momen momentum ¬ tum ThCStylers were leading 11 9 at the time but had to play two men short Then to add salt to the wound they were called for playing too many men If the game had a turning point this was it The Sabres failed to show an effective offense and Watt made a superb play to get free from two men in the Sabres zone Trouble getting runs Low scoring games and extra innings have become the early trend in the Prince George Major Mens Fastball Association Two of the leagues first four games have gone an extra inn inning ¬ ing and in only one of the hockey will be proposed at the annual meeting of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association in Quebec City starting Saturday About 200 delegates will sift through 300 motions advocating changes in the CAHA constitution rules and regulations One rule proposal would impose a 10 minute major penalty on a player who starts a fight His opponent would get only five minutes and the aggressors team would weekend The long weekend sees a full slate ol sporting events in Prince George from car to canoe racing Two of the weekends major events are stock car racing and senior B mens Softball The Prince George Auto Racing Association has two programs scheduled for the PGARA Speedway A field of about 25 claimers and 10 super stocks is expected for racing Saturday night and Sunday afternoon The first season and for two weeks I have been casting in my sleep Finally got a chance to go out this weekend fishing and picked up and released one small one about 2 pounds Fly fishermen were picking up a few down south but the troll- ers werent have much luck Some of the lakes around Quesnel area are open and had a report that some of the Buckhorn area lower lakes were also open Six Mile Tabor Lake ice is rotten and should be off by this weekend All streams in the Northern Interior region are closed this year from April 1st - June 30 except Nadina Stellako Nithi Endako and Nauthy which open June 1st This closure was done to allow some fish to get into their spawning beds which of course should result in more fish It is a controversial but much needed move as all dark soft spawners should be
