gall bladders removed Bile formed in the liver is stored in the gall bladder to be released into the intestine after eating Some material in bile is important in digesting food especially fatty food Many waste products of the body are removed from the blood by the liver and excreted in the bile Blood pigments hormone remnants and many drugs are excreted this way In some people due to under underlying ¬ lying gall bladder infection or other disease or because of poor drainage these excre excretions ¬ tions form crystals or separate out as a sand These particles enlarge forming gallstones Symptoms may be caused by passage of a stone pain and nausea blockage of the bile duct jaundice or infection of the gall bladder fever Any combination may occur Once diagnosed treatment must be considered Although recent research is promising no effective way of dissolving the stones exists Early removal of the gall bladder is usual if the patient is ill with complicated disease Even in a sub acute attack many sur surgeons ¬ geons advocate prompt removal while others prefer to wait a few weeks until the patient is in better condition and the operation is techni technically ¬ cally easier Most people with gallstones have repeated attacks and the usual advice is to have the gall bladder removed once stones start giving trouble The sur surgery ¬ gery is relatively major but most surgeons have had a lot of experience with this com common ¬ mon disease and results are almost invariably good iff SUPPER CLUB m III N0W mr DISCO INN JJI A NOW OPEN iJbi Sorry for the inconvenience
