"I wish we were close to ' making a deal," Salomon said Sunday. "We're doing everything we can to get close to several groups. We want some--one who first will keep the " team in St. Louis and also run the type of organization of which we will be proud." ' Salomon, in addition to heavy financial burdens for ' the Blues, cited poor health as hi3 reason for wanting to sell. Don Ratliff, a 6-foot-six, 255-pound defensive end from Maryland and Carnell Houston, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive tackle are the imports. Ratliff has had NFL and WFL experience since graduating from the University of Maryland in 1973. The 26-year-old ccmes from the New York Jets of the NFL and played in 1965 with the Philadelphia Eagles. In 1973 and until the WFL folded in 1975 he played with the Florida Blazers. He then went to Detroit Wheels and finished in 1975 with the Philadelphia Bells. While at University of Maryland he played tight end and made 36 receptions for six touchdowns. Houston, 24, had signed with the New York Giants of the NFL for the 1977 season but it was discovered he was ineligible because he hadn't been out of highschool long enough.
