He opened the concert with the theme he wrote from the television series Chico and the Man, an upbeat song that got a wild and immediate response from the audience. Feliciano, backed by three musicians on drums, bass and keyboards, changed ably from one musical form to the next including rock, blues, country and western and balad. He also did voice' impersonations of barnyard sounds with appropriate guitar sounds. After an electric guitar solo designed to spotlight his virtuosity, Feliciano ended the concert with an optimistic tune called I Write the Songs. For an encore he sang a shortened version of Light My Fire. After the show, Feliciano said he used to perform on the road 240 days a year but the schedule became intolerable. He now performs out of large cities, only a few times a year. He said he would like to be performing when he is 60, like Frank Sinatra, even if he is financially able to stop working. Feliciano was preceded by Richie Lecea, a singer and guitarist from California, Lecea sang ballads and catchy ntry, ail tunes and put the audience in a high mood. The 1,500 in attendance Saturday, judging by the nonstop approval of every note he sang and played, can't wait until Feliciano comes by again.
