COMMISSION EMASCULATED Gov't blamed for loss of quality farming land VANCOUVER (CP) - The Scientific Pollution and Environmental Control Society has charged that much high quality farm land in British Columbia is being lost because the provincial government has emasculated the B.C. Land Commission. SPEC researcher Gregory Reif, in a letter to Environment Minister Rafe Mair, details several cases where land may be let out of the reserve despite objections from the land commission. Reif said this situation dates back to 1977 when the Agricultural Land Commission Act was amended to make the appeal of commission decisions much easier.
