Our thanks must again go to our volunteers for their significant contribution to service and to the staff who worked very hard to deliver effective library service to the community. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PAST YEAR LIBRARY DETECTIVES SUMMER READING CLUB involved 615 local young people in a two month summer program. AUTHOR WILLIAM DEVERELL visited Prince George and area to present readings from his popular mystery books. NATIVE AWARENESS WEEK drew crowds to a series of events held on the balcony at the main library last July. NEW FAMILY STORYTIME PROGRAMS were introduced to meet the needs of parents with more than one child of pre-school age. LOCAL HISTORY COMMITTEE presented a number of public programs. THE CITIZEN NEWSPAPER INDEXING PROJECT received a much needed piece of equipment when the Rotary Club of Prince George donated funds for a new microfilm reader/printer. The project continues. ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE volunteers delivered 13,000 library items to shut-ins and seniors’ institutions in 1988 and donated over 1000 hours to this community service. PROGRAMS . . . including the Commodore Users’ Association Computer Exposition, all-candidates forums sponsored by the University Women’s Club, The Prince George Symphony’s “Let’s Talk Music Series” . . . and more . . . Many other programs and displays were successful due to the cosponsorship of community organizations. This continuing support is appreciated!
