    Piston’s playoff hopes rest on Thomas’ wrist
  The 1991 NBA playoffs begin tired, hurting Pistons may find a Thursday, April 25, and while there
is no such thing as a sure thing, we feel safe in saying that there are only the slimmest of chances that the Detroit Pistons will be able to claim a third straight NBA championship. With strong competition from Chicago and Boston in the East and from Portland and the Los Angeles Lakers in the West, the
                                              three-peat beyond their grasp.
  The Pistons started off the season in relatively good shape, relying on their usual solid defense and methodical half-court offense to stay among the league's elite. But after the loss of All-Star guard Isiah Thomas, who went down with a broken right wrist in January, the Pistons struggled to play .500 ball.

  Thomas expected to be back by playoff time, but Pistons coach Chuck Daly wasnt cuununy on u. Daly was preparing, and telling his players to prepare, as if they would have to do without Thomas in the backcourt.
  Even if Thomas is able to go, how effective will he be after a three-month layoff? If his wrist is healthy, the 30-year-old Thomas - and the Pistons - may well benefit from the rest that the time off afforded him. If he can’t come back and contribute immediately, though, the Pistons could be making an early exit from this year’s playoffs.
  TNT and NBC will air extensive coverage of this year's playoffs. TNT’s begins with two games on Thursday, April 25, and NBC's starts with a pair on Saturday, April 27.
