Meego 2. You Wish 3. Teen Angel 4. Sleepwalkers 5. Union Square David Caruso. His stint as Michael Hayes should satisfy those who have missed him since his departure from NYPD Blue. And, for those who have become hooked on TV’s paranoia parade, this season offers both good and bad: John Corbett’s fugitive act as The Visitor is a fitting companion to Fox’s Millennium on Friday nights, while Bruce Greenwood, who is just about as fine an actor as Canada has produced, will have a tough chore ahead of him in keeping viewers awake throughout Sleepwalkers. This fall’s new TV lineup is far from being all dark and brooding, however. Sitcom lovers will unquestionably flock to Kirstie Alley’s travails as a lingerie mogul whose private life is in turmoil on Veronica’s Closet, while Jenna Elfman’s free-spirited charisma is sure to enchant viewers of ABC’s Dharma & Greg. Fred Savage’s eager-beaver enthusiasm as a young man in his first job offers laughs on NBC’s Working. And, as for former Playboy fixture Jenny McCarthy, she is bound to attract attention to Jenny on Sunday nights. Not all sitcoms are instant faves, though. Meego, You Wish and Teen Angel all show how bad TV can get. And it’s hard to believe j NBC couldn’t come up with something better than Union Square to keep viewers amused between Thursday’s doses of Friends and Seinfeld. That competition will prove tough for actor Kevin Anderson, but his soul-searching stint as a priest on Nothing Sacred is a worthwhile alternative to Friends on Thursdays. As for those who might scoff at Robert Pastorelli even trying to fill Robbie Coltrane’s shoes in Cracker, well, he deserves a chance to offer his take on the material. When it comes to putting a North American spin on a British concept, though, 'Sleepwalkers' cast: snore CBC’s soapy Riverdale does a fine job of capturing a Coronation Street flavor. After viewng the first four episodes, we’re convinced viewers will be hooked, too. In the pages that follow, TV Times offers its annual night-by-night, thumbs-up/thumbs-down guide to the major prime-time newcomers, as well as a peek at some of the changes fans can expect in their favorite returning shows.
