B6 THE FREE PRESS STYLE SEPTEMBER 23, 2001 Drums and brass The movement to establish a drum and brass corps in Prince George is taking another step towards fruition. Thanks to a positive meeting with the mayor on support in principal for the group, the two main proponents are taking the next step - to invite the public to an informational meeting. Bill Thorne and Paul Brett are the original spearheads for the marching band, and they will be joined in their efforts be a mayor’s aide. “We’re quite happy. It looks like it’s going to hap- pen,” says Paul. He cau tions, though, that they need a lot of help to get it off the ground. The potential for public attention is enormous but first a volunteer committee is required to fund raise. “The first thing to get is a used drum line, and then flags,” says Paul. “We will recruit drummers and flag twirlers and dancers to get things started.
