Parliament to Meet Jan. 18; Early Election

General belief prevails that dissolution will take place in March, when the government will request parliament to extend another year. It is thought the Liberals will refuse any extension! and government will immediately appeal to country.

Petrpgrad, Dec. 5—After'days of anxiety the situation ori the Roumanian front has changed* for the better. The Russian armies arrived yesterday after forced marches and it is considered that this support will enable the Roumanian forces to hold the city. The opinion of military experts gives the defenders the better chance. There is little doubt the arrival of the Russian army was a surprise to the Teuton general, who expected to crush the Roumanian army before assistance arrived. How large the Russian army is and whether, acting with the Roumanians, they will be able to force back the Huns is prob-
lematical. It is considered here that it will be a contest between Russian-Roumanian and Aus-tro-German commanders for advantage, both armies realizing that defeat means lost prestige in whole Balkans. Critics give Russians the advantage, and claim victory should rest with allies in the decisive battle that is bound to be fought.
Berlin reports indicate Teutonic armies are operating in Roumania incorporated under command MacKenzen.
The Russians advanced south of Bucharest and retook several towns* besides capturing bridge over Danube. Fighting is terrific the losses on both sides fearful.
