HEART FOUNDATION THE BEAT GOES ON Thursday, November 24, 1 988 - 9 Job Training On November 10th the avanced Education and Job Training Minister Stan Hagen said that a province-wide network of Training and Enterprise Centers will be established. "The purpose of this network is to provide access to information to British Columbians in all regions of the province," said Hagen. "Training and Enterprise Centers underscore the Government's commitment to regional needs in the programming and services it provides. " A focal point for the network are Regional Training and Enterprise Centers which' will be established in 12 major jnters in the province. These centers will focus on support for training to increase business strength, economic growth and job access. The centers will provide employer training information; access to management and supervisory training; community, educational and distance learning resources; and business and economic development information. The Centers also help to increase public awareness and access to training programs and services. Training and Enterprise Center opened in Kamloops on June 20, 1988, and it is expected that centers in Prince George, Nanaimo, Victoria, Terrace and Cranbrook will open by the spring of 1989, with additional locations opening later in the year. These Centers are electronically linked to a second level of "outreach services" throughout each development region. These Training and Enterprise Access Sites will be located at Government Agents, local Colleges, Chambers of Commerce, etc. and will provide local access and connections to the nearest Training and Enterprise Center. Information displays and ongoing public awareness initiatives throughout the regions will provide a third level of information and will display a broader range of overall government services and specific regional services through a combination of touchscreen computer technology, toll-free telephone connections and printed materials. The total cost to establish this network will be $2.5 million over the next 2 years. STUDY NOW! CHRISTMAS IS COMING! RACQUETS MAKE GREAT GIFTS E&l SPORTS 369 Victoria St. 564-471 1
