This weeks exciting flick is the classic life story of a misunderstood youth. It has all the essential makings of your typical blockbuster; sex, violence, comedy, and tragedy are but all in part of this recently released Disney movie, Bambi. The animated Walt Disney classic starts the most unlikely cast of characters one would ever expect to see on the screen. A rude, obnoxious, little rabbit named Thumper; a bisexual skunk, who goes by the name Flower; and of course, our hero, Bambi, the young prince of the forest (a deer). The movie begins with the first day of Bambi's misunderstood life. The poor deer is quietly sleeping by his mother's side, when every bloody animal in the forest comes knocking on his door to stare at him. From this very first encounter, he gets ridiculed and teased by Thumper, his so called friend, and then his flower child mother slaps the name Bambi on him. I ask you now, what kind of name is that for the future Prince of the Forest?! Sure Walt wouldn't be able to sell the film to its audience if he called the deer George or Jose, but "Bambi"?! That's a name for some blond bimbo model you meet at a bar on a Friday night. Needless to say the name haunts him later in his life. Later, he is forced to take up the ancient fighting skills of Deer Gits U. The poor little deer's alcoholic father leaves home before Bambi is born and only pops up in his life when it is convenient or at the time when a major plot point might commencing. And, as we all, looses his mother early in life, so our hero is forced to associate with animals of obvious lesser intelligence. But all in all it wasn't as bad as it could have been. One thing that does come to mind however is the rating G is not the right rating for this movie. It should have been rated R or at least PG-13, because as soon as Bambi and his friends pass puberty, the population of the forest jumps. Not to mention the brawls Bambi gets into with dogs and another stag after his doe. I guess I can not really complain about this movie 'cause it seems like everyone seen it and seems to like it. Although, Bambi is not a real good party video, it could be. It should be watched, though, with an "Awhh . . . Isn't that cute." P.S.: Bambi's voice as little kid is very funny. It falls somewhere between Eddie Murphy's Buckwheat and Billy Crystal's Wayne and Wanda Whiner.
