Finally the CNC Board of Directors have made a decision that will possibly benefit CNC: they fired Charles McCaffray. It is well known amongst both students and staff that there has been several problems with the Administration. Many people have felt that the person responsible for these problems was Charles McCaffray. I am quite glad that McCaffray has been fired, and I hope his replacement is a better administrator. However, it really was not professional of the board to fire him before he had finished his contract If the board must pay McCaffray for the time left in his contract, CNC will lose a significant amount of money. Since the board has known for many My View J By Jennifer Hawkins years that there has been problems with CNC administration ( from previous External Committee reports), they should have decided to not renew his contract instead of waiting. Not only did the board's actions cost CNC money, it also may have a negative effect on McCaffrey's career. Firing him will have a much worse effect on his career than merely not renewing his contract. A person who has been in a position f r twelve years should be able to expect some job security or at least a respectable departure from his place of employment Also, McCaffray is teing used as a scapegoat. The board did not do their job. After the first External Review Committee's negative report, the board should have implemented its recommendations. They did little to improve the situation. How many; of the problems at CNC were actually due to the board, and not McCaffray? Perhaps the board should critically examine their role in this mess...then maybe CNC will be improved. i' i ' jmmr" COLE PRESIDENT VICE-PRESIDENT SPORTS & CLUBS On February 7th By-Election, VOTE P.EC.
