The
1st
Issue

It
was
ten-thirty
at
night,
and
the
rest
of
the
college
was
empty,
well
almost
empty.
From
a
little
office
in
the
comer
of
nowhere,
a
light
broke
the
darkness.
This
was
the
light
of
the
CNC
Free
Press.
In
this
office
two
staff
members,
John
and
John,
burned
the
midnight
oil,
working
at
a
feverish
pace
to
get
the
first
issue
out.
It
was
grueling
work,
but
someone
had
to
do
it.
Things
were
going
well
at
this
point,
when
suddenly
a
hideous
demon
face
appeared
on
the
computer
screen,
laughed
at
them,
ate
their
data
and
shut
their
computer
down.
The
two
members
looked
at
each
other
with
jaws
hanging
down
to
their
knees,
eyes
opened
wide,
totally
dumbfounded,
not
knowing
what
to
expect
next
Total
darkness
as
the
lights
went
out.
From
the
corner
of
the
room,
a
blood-red
glow
began
to
appear.
From
the
two
members,
a
white
glow
began
to
emanate,
as
their
faces
and
bodies
went
white
from
fright.
Luckily
for
them,
one
of
the
members
suddenly
remembered
his
pocket
flashlight.
He
quickly
whippeditoutand
turned
it
on
and
shone
it
into
the
corner
where
the
red
glow
was
appearing.
The
red
glow
disappeared
and
the
lights
came
back
on.
John
and
John
breathed
sighs
of
relief
as
the
color
of
their
skins
returned
to
normal.
One
problem
remained,
and
that
was
the
computer.
It
hadn't
returned
to
normal,
and
that
was
the
only
thing
that
told
them
that
the
experience
that
they
had
just
gone
through
had
actually
happened,
and
that
it
wasn't
a
hallucination.
The
turned
the
power
off
and
on,
they
hit
the
reset
buttons
on
the
side.
Still
nothing
happened.
Finally
something
happened.
The
computer
began
to
shake
violently,
smoke
started
pouring
out
of
the
disk
drive
slot,
and
the
hideous
demon
face
appeared
on
the
screen
in
full
color,
rather
than
black
and
white.
The
computer
rose
into
the
air,
and
began
to
spin
like
a
top,
with
even
more
smoke
pouring
out
of
it
The
smoke
rose
to
the
ceiling
in
a
bilious
cloud,
and
slowly
began
to
coalesce
into
the
face
that
appeared
on
the
screen.
John
and
John
stood
there
in
disbelief,
notknowingwhattodo.
Afinger
of
the
coalesced
smoke
reached
out
and
slammed
the
door
behind
them,
locking
them
in.
Another
two
fingers
shot
out
and
wrapped
themselves
around
the
two
members.
The
two
members
started
to
scream
and
call
the
hideous
demon
face
all
sorts
of
profanities.
The
hideous
demon
face
extended
the
fingers
to
their
mouths,
shutting
them
up.
The

demon
face

at
John
and
John,
