Some are interested in the economic spin-offs associated with the arrival of a university. Some are eager to upgrade their skills and do so at UNBC. Then there are the students enroled at the northern colleges, especially those in UT programs. To a large extent, their lives over the next few years at least will be influenced by what UNBC plans to offer. At CNC, UT classe$'re bursting at the seams, and many of the people enroled in ? those courses are hopingthey can bank their v credits towards earning a degree at the University's Prince George campus being built on Cranbrook Hill4 While the grand opening of that campus is scheduled for the fall of 1994, the original target date was September 1993. Many students at the College, now nearing completion of their second year, originally registered with the idea that the University should be opening just as they finished up their second year at CNC. They'll be finishing their second academic year is a few months, and may already be asking "What will UNBC offer this September?" A simple question,yes, but there is no simple answer. UNBC is currently in the process of hiring 40 academic staff (program chairs and faculty members, for example) and the people chosen to fill those positions will partially dictate which corses will be available come September. The Guide to UNBC is a 72-page book that gives an overview of nearly every facet of UNBC form facilities to proposed degree programs. A free copy can be obtained by dropping by either the downtown Prince George UNBC office, or Mosquito Books, or by calling 565-5666. Also, you've likely noticed large, green posters displayed on the bulletin boards in the CNC hallways, These tell of various public activities and events such as the public lectures from the short-listed academic candidates, Information is also available by calling The Info Line at 565-5678.
