I by Valda Horning I would like to apologize for the errors in the last article I submitted, the spelling was horrible, and worse I was mistaken about some facts. I planned to rewrite the article, and even asked that the article that was printed be thrown out That article was not thrown away, and I was swamped with papers, so I did not submit the revised edition. Shame on Val and shame on the Free Press! Jimmie Glover, Ben Haizimsque, and Christine Dawson were the acting executive, they were not elected. The present name of the club is the First Nations Student Club, not the Native Students Club. We have since held an election in which everyone won by acclamation, our new executive consists of Ben Haizimsque as President, Gladys Garry as Vice President, Valda Horning as Treasurer, and Vicky Thomas as Secretary. The First Nations Education Support Services (FNESS) has hired two new staff The First Nations Student Club members, Priscilla Michelle as Native Student Information Officer to assist FNESSin setting up an information package. Jimmie Glover as Native Activity Coordinator, to help our club. The First Nations Student Club held a successful faculty luncheon in which we introduced ourselves to the faculty, and treated them with some traditional native foods. The club also held a Christmas luncheon, unfortunately we did not advertise enough and turn out numbers were low. We have learned our lesson and will apply this knowledge to future activities. We will be holding a Logo contest We are asking that all interested amateur artists enter. We would like to have our logo be a symbol of goals held by our club: unity, knowledge, spirituality, and going forward. Further information concerning rules, deadlines, and prizes will be posted.
