Pockets Work Study Profile By Laura Snider I am a full-time student at CNC and I am part of the work study program. I had not originally intended to become involved with it but it has been an experience I'm glad I didn't miss out on. I'm a typical student, low on money, great at wasting time and have high expectations for the future. Since I have been involved with this program I have had an income without the normal tradeoff of declining grades. I work the hours I choose so homework is not affected. The specific job I do is assist Lindy Munk with her research. When I first started I was not sure what to expect or what was expected of me. I had never met Lindy before and I was worried about the demands of the job interfering with study, time. As. it turned out, I couldn't ask for a better boss or job. The job consists of running subjects through the experiment, talking to classes to recruit subjects and compiling the data. I meet new people almost every time I go to work and Lindy is great; she's always smiling and concerned about the job interfering with homework. I enjoy walking down the hall and having people I have had as subjects saying "Hi" and feeling reassured knowing that I am making money, gaining valuable experience and still keeping up on homework and assignments. My goal is to become an experimental psychologist and working with Lindy had given me a better idea of that research consists of and how interesting it is to work with people. Now that I have a better ides of what my career choice consists of, I definately want to become an experimental-psychologist.
