THE FREE PRESS Wednesday, October 13, 1994 7 SPORTS HL Season Postponment Depression by J. Cole, Editor is anyone have a cure-all for :key Season Postponement jression? I am definately 'ering. I can't sleep, I can't , Watching tapes of old nes just makes me cry. :re's a Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em h the cello still on it that I l wistfully at. The posters on walls of my hockey heros m limp, not vivid and new p they did in the beginning fast season when I predicted icouver would be in the fi- mething has to be done. I yell the computer screen. I yell the stove. I hurl insults I In't think I knew at garbage is, and composters. I know i not the only one suffering, my friends are on edge too. u can feel the tension that is the room whenever we are und. Every guy in the hall y is scrutinized. "Hmnph, 's not as cute as Pavel," and ho does he think he is, etzky?" iank God for local hockey. My lory is that both teams will be cing in the money if the lock-t last much longer. Is it any inder why attendance is so gh, so early in the season? st baseball is cancelled, and w hockey is postponed. I did lappy dance of joy when the Iseball season was cancelled, Id now God is punishing me b laughing at so many other cples misfortune. Enough is lough! I can now relate to the Women's Rugby Women's Rugby has started again in P.G. This sport is played for P.G.S.S. but anyone can join. The practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30-5pm on the F.G.b.b. field beside Massy (Place Stadium. It is good exer cise and lots of fun. If you want jto give it a try but don't have all or the time right now, there will be a 2 hour workshop on Saturday Oct. 16th 1 angst of the baseball fan. GIVE ME BACK HOCKEY!!! I remember saying to my friend Leslye, when I was in Vancouver after that fateful game seven, "Only two months till it starts all over again." August dragged by, and September's monotony was only temporarily subdued by the beginning of a new college semester and the local hockey pre-season and regular season starting. I was counting the days until my beloved Canucks could get out and do some damage. And now? Now I wait, watching a T.V. screen that I can't be bothered to turn on. I have read all the books in my house. I've watched SlapShot three times, and in my desperation, even bought Mighty Ducks part 2. This is all in the week before the postponement was announced, and in this week which has followed. There are two distinct names for this condition. Pre-postponement stress, and post-postponement depression. I have a whopping big case. So far the only known cure is an end to this labour dispute. Get those guys back on the ice. The juniors can only carry the torch for so long while the public waits. And the public can only wait so long until they get frustrated and become avid fans of underwater lawn bowling or Latvian folk dancing. I am reduced to begging. Please. Please, play settle everything soon. Play hockey. I miss it. which then will be followed with a game(only for fun). If interested please leave your name and phone number at the S.A. office in the Free Press box or just show up at one of the practices. We're looking forward to seeing you on the field.
