by S. Rousell, staff writer Ah, l'amour! The flowers are blooming and the birds are singing. Everything is set up perfectly and no detail has been forgotten. The mood, the atmosphere, the ambiance . . . Need I say more? The wonderous occasion of which I am refering is the day known to all as Valentine's Day. It is on this day that all problems dissolve and lovers embrace and know only love and passion. Ah, l'amour! The time is now; the place is of your making. There is nothing more romantic than knowing that someone spent some time to make everything perfect for you. It doesn't really matter what that something is, just that the effort was made and that the moment was, and will always be, special in your memory. Yes, it does mean putting some thought into exactly what will take place and taking the time to get all the details right, but I know that the result will make all the effort worthwhile. Do you know what it feels 33e tMu Jaeifaie like to do something for someone and have them so happy because of it that they would do anything for you, they were putty in your hands? Then you know what I'm talking about. Sure, you have to make sure that everything is perfect so that he or she will be impressed with what you've done, but let me assure you the results will be worth it. There is nothing like that special someone doing something for you and you alone. It makes you feel good and makes you want to do something special for them in return. A Valentine is the perfect way for people to tell the person how much every day of the year has meant to them. There is nothing that makes a person feel more loved than a mushy card or heart felt poem read by that special person. It doesn't even have to be all that good; if its from the heart, it's beautiful. There is nothing more ro mantic than finally hear ing those words that you always wanted your significant other to tell you. Your throat con stricts and "tears well up in your eyes. Valentine's Day is the one day each year set aside for showing loved ones exactly how much Valentine's Day, 1995 - THE FREE PRESS - 5 you care about them. It is a time where people get together to remember the good times they've spent with each other and to make plans for future good times. Believe me, people do compare what they get from their boy girlfriends-don 't be caught on the chincy end. You'll thank me for it later! Happy Valentine's to All and to All a Good Night! S&dK Jccforia - Stv-tce &t b?twe Dear Victoria, I'm a proper 19 year-old Christian girl who's been dating a nice young man, "Buckley", for several weeks now. He's a really neat guy, and my parents are fond of him; I even think he may be that 'special' one. But a few days ago Buckley, in a spasm of unbridled desire, brushed up against my bottom. Later he said it was an accident but I'm scared I'm pregnant! I'm too afraid to tell my parents or my minister, help! Confused in P.G. Dear Confused, How a 'proper' young woman could ever put herself in such a position with a young man of the opposite gender is simply scandalous. While courting a young couple must always be in the presence of a capable, responsible chap-erone so as to discourage undesirable behaviour. However, the Lord may have been smiling on you; I don't believe it is possible for conception to occur through contact with ones' posterior unless there has been an exchange of fluids. In the future, it is always a good idea for a woman, upon coming into such intimate contact, to immediately bath and wash herslf vigorously, ridding herself of uncleanli-ness, using various soothing lotions... velvety creams. ..sweet-smelling oils.. .while rubbing in a circular motion... P.S. you must never be afraid of confiding in your elders; be it your teachers, parents, pastor, or local policeman. They have a lifetime of knowledge with which to help you. Dear Victoria, Why is it that the girls I like aren't interested in me and the ones who are I don't like? I am well groomed, own my own truck, and have a healthy relationship with God. What is the problem? Lonely in Hixon. Dear Lonely, It sounds like you are a sensible young gentleman who just needs to meet a respectable girl to avert your attention from the girls who are loose and do not walk with the Lord. I suggest joining your parish youth group or local Young Conservatives Club to meet an interesting young lady. One must resist the temptations to visit the popular havens that appeal to desires of the flesh such as taverns, pool halls, and video-game arcades. Also, the cultivation of the gentlemanly qualities of patience, integrity, and honesty will create for you an increased attention from like-minded women and a strong character. Good luck!
