BRIDAL EXPO '96 Janice Gordon Once again Prince George has been overcome with brides-to-be. However, this did not scare the Bridal Expo, which was put off with out a hitch once again. The show ranged everywhere from the wedding dresses for the big day, to the lingerie for the honeymoon. The models seemed to be JOCK 8RI6FS Shawn McLaughlin Wayne Gretzky finally made the move to St. Louis to play with the "Blues" after being traded for two rookies and a veteren teammate. Rumors were flying that Micheal Jordan may be leaving the "Bulls" once more, this time to play as a free agent for another team. As for confirmation, no word has come from Jordan or the Bulls. Jaques Velneauve placed second in his first Grand Prix race in the Australian Grand Prix. Velneauve shocked the world after going professional in the Grand Prix circuit after only having two accredited years in the Indy Car ranks. The Briar Cup went to the Manitoba team after defeating the Alberta team 8- having the time of their lives up there on the stage. Showing off the beautiful clothing for many different Prince George merchants. The models varied in age right from little kids to grandmothers. Carly Nachbear was set on stage and dressed by five men in order to show off some elegant wedding dresses. There were many 7 in an extra end. Manitoba will fight for the World Cup in the international curling competition in mid-April. The Montreal Forum saw it's last Canadiens Game this month, as the Canadiens beat the Dallas Stars in a game that kept the Canadien team in play-off contention. The forum has hosted the Canadiens since the early twenties. After collecting two superbowl rings, Ronnie Watt of the Kansas City Chiefs retired, after stating that his productive days were over, and didn't want to go out old and unnoticed (much like Gretzky has decided to do). Jeff King won his second Ididerod title with the third fastest time recorded for the race. Dan Green was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Micheal Jor-dan's father. Green still claims his innocents. Oh ya, and some bulls came to town and stunk up the Multiplex. door prizes for the brides-to-be to enter with the many merchants that had set up booths at the show. Also there was a great grand prize of a trip to Jamaica and a second prize for diamond earrings donated by Gordon's fine jewellery, for the occasion. The show was fantastic, even ISSUE 5 1996 though I'm not getting married any time soon. It sure was fun and exciting just being there and enjoying the excitement of everyone that was there. I would like to add a quick good luck to all those brides and grooms that are going to take the plunge this year. PRINCE GEORGE MULTIPLEX Shawn McLaughlin Normally, someone wouldn't pay a lot for something that they knew didn't work. People aren't racing out to pay big bucks for cars that they know are lemons, or for medication that they know won't cure them of any illness. Why then, are people in Prince George paying some of the most expensive fees to buy Prince George Cougar's tickets in all of the cities in that have teams in the Canadian Hockey League? Sure the Multiplex is nice, but people don't go there to look at the building. The new complex is in no way an excuse to have higher ticket prices. The Prince George Spruce Kings have been stated to be one of the richest Junior Hockey teams in Canada, and their ticket prices remain much lower than their WHL counter parts. In Kamloops, a Blazers ticket may cost up to $4 lower than a comparable Cougar's ticket. It was stated on a segment on TSN, that on the average, Cougars tickets are $2 more expensive than office state that, "The Cougars have a disadvantage due to their position further north than any other team in the league." However, Northern Alberta WHL teams, in comparison to the Cougars, have lower ticket prices, yet travel approximately the same distance to out of town games. Also, with the introduction of the Cougars to Prince George, other teams to the south didn' t raise their ticket prices to raise money to make the trip to Prince George. And finally, the Cougars have a comparably lower lease than teams with older arenas. We are at the Cougars mercy, and literally have to pay the price to watch them.
