today
my
friend,
the
nefarious
Ryan
Olson,
was
spit
out
into
this
cynical
world.
To
treat
this
loyal
compatriot
of
mine,
who
is
now
quickly
closing
in
on
his
quarter
century
anniversary,
I,
with
some
of
my
fellow
financially
strapped
post-secondary
comrades,
purchased
him
tickets
to
see
Wide
Mouth
Mason
for
his
celebratory
extravaganza.
He
gets
drunk.
If
you
didn't
hear
the
hype
the
day
after,
the
concert
was
really
dope.
However,
it
wasn't
Wide
Mouth
Mason
who
gave
me
a
musical
erection,
but
Vancouver
indie
band
Nickelback.
Nickelback
came
up
here
on
extremely
short
notice
(two
days)
so
their
arrival
was
not
well
publicized.
"We
really
like
the
band
Wide
Mouth
Mason
and
it
was
a
great
opportunity
to
play
with
the,"
said
Peake.
We
talked
about
their
fan
base
and
support,
and
Peak
discussed
ant
the
UBC
Pitt
Pub
maybe
this
coming
Fall
(take
not
UT
kiddies).
Peake
said
they're
aiming
their
music
towards
collegeuniversity
students
since
they
seem
to
appreciate
their
kind
of
music.
The
music
was
wicked-cool.
Nickelback
was
nauseatingly
sic.
Their
sound
has
a
rather
hard
edge
grunge
feel
to
it
that
ensures
high-energy,
smashing-into-each-other

excitement
only
a
few
acts
can
provide.
Nickelback's
lead
pipes,
Chad
Kroeger,
gives
you
that
deep
Eddie
VedderPear
Jam
sound,
and
the
drummer
was
insanely
brilliant.
It
seems
like
Prince
George
lacks
a
night
life
and
when
one
happens
to
show
up,
people
decide
to
stay
home.
I
just
don't
get
it.
For
those
who
missed
out,
they
are
a
great
band
to
see
life.
