FOfMDrt Sports Feature January 2004 A Clean Sweep Cougars Captain, Chris Falloon, takes the time to talk with Free Forum j8&$&?&1 Prince George Cougars captain Chris Falloon has been a fixture in the Cougars lineup and the city of Prince George for the last four years; Now he is also a fixture in the record books. Recently the 5-11, 190 pound native of Souris, Manitoba played in his 300th career game and became the Cougars all-time leader in goals in the same week. Chris is also within reach of being the all-time leader in assists and points which would give him a clean sweep of the record books and allow Chris to leave his mark as the greatest player to ever play tor the Prince George Cougars. I had a chance to catch up with Chris and this is what he had to say about the records and the season so far. Free Forum: Who were your favourite NHL players growing up? Chris Falloon: I would have to say Wayne Gretzky for sure, back when I was growing up the Oilers were in their dynasty. I would also have to say I looked up to Pat Falloon, my cousin. He played in the NHL, he is a good role model for myself and it is nice to have an NHL player in my family. FF: Describe your typical gameday? CF: We usually come down to the rink for a pre-game skate at about 10:00 in the morning, and have a meeting after about the up coming game. Then we get the afternoon off to go home and rest up and get a meal in, then we head down to the rink at about 5:00, 5:30 to get ready for the game. FF: What do you like to do on your days off? CF: Off days I don t like to do too much, it gets to be a pretty busy schedule with 72 games during the season, its nice just to put up your feet and relax. It s nice to visit with the billets and guys on the team and relax. FF: Who is your favourite teammate of all-time? CF: There have been lots of good players here and good friends over the years, but I would have to say Dan Baum has been my best friend. We lived together for a year and we were always roommates on the road. We have a really good friendship going, we still keep in touch and I talk to him once a week down in Columbus where he is playing the East Coast Hockey League. FF: What is your favourite WHL road city to play in? CF: I would have to say coming from Manitoba, it s always nice to play in Brandon. Out west I enjoy playing in Kamloops for some reason, maybe its because of the Prince George-Kamloops rivalry but its always fun " - to play - -v; vai s ,- I'Jr" - v-!
