1 -"I ' feL- -j M ;"i.w.:il 's been a good time tene Brisbois naging Editor Although I haven't written an edito- this year, I felt it important to have est word in my final issue. I have ten a wish list, of sorts, for the Free irum and the College of New ledonia. When Free Forum started up in 32, it was given an office next to the . idents' Association office, an old rage room, with the promise of a ger room in the new Administration jtion of the college. We are still in old room. he Students' Association has been irking on a Student Union Building, d we will have an office there, but viously, I am unable to move my sk in quite yet. So, the first and gest item on my wish list for both :e Forum and the College is a jdent Union Building, complete with peautiful new office for me; well, for newspaper. One other bee in my bonnet is the ftc lab in room 2-313. It's great that iy it. So here goes. Ahem. Looks like it's that time jam... Yean, tnats right. Another litastic year has come to an end for here at the Forum with this last iue of ours. And we really do hope fat you've enjoyed each month's edi- n. Really. We do. But what if you haven't? What if j've read Free Forum all year long, d after reading every issue, you say yourself " man, this is trash. Why do I this crap?" Then what are you una do? Well that's the great thing about Forum. It's a 'forum' for people to Ke stuff. And it's 'free' to everyone. en you. It's not just the name, but it's our pndate. It's what we do. So when you dde that you hate this newspaper, think that we don't care about cer- n issues, or that we ignore some-ng that's important to you, you can us. And you can tell the whole iiool, the whole community, even e whole country. Because people lis- i. That's why we have newspapers. I know it's an exasperating concept, I it's so, so important for you to ow why this paper and others like it we have permission to use this 'lab; however, it is sorely outdated and missing several vital software programs necessary for publishing a newspaper. Rumour has it that the Mac lab will be updated or improved in some way in the near future, but we may not have access to the lab, and we do not have a modern computer of our own. Therefore, the second item on my wish list is a new Macintosh computer with all the software the paper needs to publish. As I do not want to be too greedy, my final wish is a simple one. All I ask is that the government of BC lower tuition (it would also be great if they abolished student debt, but that may be asking too much). I have many other wishes for the College and the Free Forum, but little space to elaborate; so, if you see something that needs improvement, consider it part of my wish list. Thank you for being patient as I rant and dream. Please continue reading the rest of our little paper. he Kraft Dinner connection win Lalonde mures Editor Well it's time to say that thing that always say whenever we have to exist. We want students to be aware of things that affect them on some level or another. And then we want them to do something about it. For example, someone once asked me why we print so much stuff on the Rock the Vote BC campaign. I was then astounded to learn that this person didn't even know about the May 17 provincial election. So here's the thing: School is expensive. Students make very little money (thanks in large part to the Liberal government's $6hour training wage, check out www.6buckssucks.com for details). So, a lot of people can't afford to go to school to secure a decent career for themselves. Or, students who do go to school can't afford to eat anything but Kraft Dinner all semester long. Now I don't know about you, but that sucks. I'm a student, and I'm damn sick of Kraft Dinner. Now the only way that this is ever going to change is if we, as students, whine enough to force every political party to take better care of us; otherwise, we'll vote for someone else who will. It's that simple. That's just one reason why students need to be more aware. There are dozens of others, and I'm sure you have your own too. But that bit up there, about Kraft Dinner? But I can't stress to you all how unhealthy Kraft Dinner really is, and that NO student should have to eat it on a daily basis just to afford school. No one. That in mind, I'd like to say this one thing, just once more. It's been a great year, so thank you. So this will be the last thing I ever say as Features Editor of Free Forum. I promise. So here it is. Vote. Please. My stomach needs you to. Thanks again.
