2005
was
a
year
of
highs
and
lows
in
the
worlds
of
music,
movies,
fashion,
and
entertainment
in
general.
It
seemed
like
every
good
record
had
a
total
waste
to
balance
it
out,
every
decent
movie
was
counter
pointed
with
a
complete
piece
of
crap,
and
every
time
you
turned
around,
idiots
were
beside
themselves
over
the
latest
celebrity
scoop.
Coldplay's
x
y
comes
immediately
to
mind
as
a
good
record
released
during
the
time
period
known
as
2005.
Melodic
and
moody,
x
y
was
a
worthy
follow
up
to
the
staggering
A
Rush
of
Blood
to
the
Head.
System
of
a
Down
also
did
not
disappoint,
releasing
two
albums
in
2005,
Mesmerize
and
Hypnotize.
Clearly
a
double
album
released
at
separate
times,
both
these
offerings
could
stand
as
damn
good
records
in
their
own
right
as
well.
The
Corb
Lunds
Band's
Hair
in
My
Eyes
Like
a
Highland
Steer
provided
a
slice
of
Canadian
folk
bluegrass
fun,
with
high
energy
tunes
such
as
the
single
The
Truck
Got
Stuck
essentially
begging
you
to
go
grab
a
bottle
of
Jack
Daniels.
Thrice
gave
us
the
memorable
Vheissu,
a
dark
and
swirling
record
reminiscent
of
Deftones'
White
Pony,
and
the
underground
hip
hop
scene
was
alive
with
releases
from
such
luminaries
as
Aesop
Rock,
RJD2,
and
Canada's
own
socio-politically
conscious
crew,
Sweatshop
Union.
And
if
you
haven't
done
so
yet,
do
yourself
a
favor
and
check
out
James
Blunt's
Back
to
Bedlam.
But
while
there
was
a
lot
to
celebrate
in
the
past
year,
the
amount
of
crap
that
found
its
way
onto
the
charts
is
inexcusable.
Anyone
who
reads
this
paper
at
all
is
surely
aware
of

have
apparently
abandoned
their
soci
conscious
roots
as
a
real
hip-hop
ere
favor
of
cranking
out
meaningless
dancefc
confections.
Seriously,
what
the
hell
arep
songs
about?
I'm
sure
you've
all
been
deluged

whole
celebrity
scandal
thiriji
I
won't
pain
you
with
a
rehash.
Suffice
l
say,
people
got
married,
busted
with
ti
and
strippers,
divorced,
pregnant,
andp
in
rehab,
and
if
you
care,
maybe
you
sha
consider
getting
a
life
of
your
own.
Wondal
things,
lives,
they
fill
the
time
between
ETs
Falcon
Beach
just
beautifully.
And
as
fan
fashion
goes,
I
just
have
one
question;

hell
is
buying
these
jeans
that
come

torn-and-filthy?
Really,
whoever
thinks
