E-cigarettes exist in a regulatory gray area; currently there is no control of product quality/safety, age restrictions, or indoor ban. To further complicate the issue, Health Canada has declared that e-cigarette models containing nicotine have not been approved for sale or importation in Canada. To this effect, Health Canada has sent numerous cease and desist orders to vendors selling such products. However, without any regulations, it remains uncertain what Health Canada can do to enforce compliance. In fact, several businesses openly and proudly flaunt the cease and desist order.
